There are limitless possibilities to art and language.

I make book-like objects and language-like prints. I’m interested in the physicality of books, in how tangible words are, and in what abstract geometric patterns represent.

In my series Books From Things, I reimagine what the book is by creating volumes composed of readily available objects. Working modularly, I use the technique of assemblage to make one-of-a-kind sculptures from everyday, mass-produced products. Making variations on a theme allows me to draw on different qualities of a given object and tell a different story through each iteration.

In other projects, I appropriate written and visual languages to make something else. The results are recognisable but altered images. In Subway Origami I combine the lines with the folds of a subway map to create a painting. In Mixed Signals I mash signal flags together into a glitchy edition of prints. Lastly, in Hold Your Breath, I took all the punctuation marks from the UK government’s guidelines to show a sequence of signs that represent breathing during a pandemic.

As I continue, I plan to produce more variations using my existing strategies while expanding my work to incorporate more installations.
